Development of Fertőrákos Cave Theatre for tourist purposes

Following the 1986 reconstruction, the Fertőrákos Cave Theatre and Quarry, which was already operating as a theatre, was renovated again in 2015. During the works that began in 2013, the theatre’s interior spaces were modernized, including the auditorium, the orchestra pit, the stage, and the lower and upper stage machinery. The newly renovated 4,600 m², 760-seat theatre was also given a new function: it now operates as an exhibition and visitor centre. A thematic adventure park and educational trail were established, presenting the fossilized remains of Miocene-era creatures and the formation of Fertőrákos limestone using various visual tools. In addition, a service building and a reception building were constructed, and parking facilities were expanded. Protecting the area's natural values was a top priority throughout the project, with specialists from fields such as mining involved to ensure full compliance with all relevant regulations. CÉH Zrt. was responsible for project management and technical supervision during the investment.
